Anthropic, a competitor of OpenAI, released its first smartphone application on Wednesday. The application is a mobile version of the artificial intelligence chatbot that the company calls Claude.
The application gives users the ability to synchronize their chat with the activities on their desktop. Additionally, it enables users to make use of the app to analyze photographs that they have taken or uploaded. Both of these capabilities are accessible through ChatGPT, which is a competitor.
Additionally, Anthropic has introduced a team plan for Claude, which provides corporate customers with access to collaborative capabilities and a greater number of chats than Pro users experience. For business customers, ChatGPT has a package that is comparably priced.
Claude competes directly with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which emerged in the latter half of 2022 and swiftly gained significant popularity.As one of the few artificial intelligence models that has a consumer app, ChatGPT has been facing little competition in the smartphone industry up until this point. The company published its iOS app in May of last year.
Pricing for premium editions of ChatGPT and Claude is comparable, coming in at approximately 20 dollars per month. Voice chat and image generating are two of the most important features that set these apps apart from one another. Claude does not permit either of these, although ChatGPT does.
Anthropic has not yet provided any specifics regarding its plans to launch on Android. Canada and the countries that make up the European Union do not have access to Claude.
Dario and Daniela Amodei, who had previously worked at OpenAI, established Anthropic in 2021. They were former employees at OpenAI. Major investors, such as Amazon and Google, who are also developing their own artificial intelligence chatbot projects, quickly became interested in the firm
During the previous year, Amazon invested $1.25 billion in Anthropic, and in March, the company pledged an additional $2.75 billion. The deal, granting Amazon a minority ownership stake, was seen as a power move in the ongoing AI battles.
According to Anthropic, it will train and power its massive language models with the cloud servers and chips provided by Amazon Web Services. This will enable the models to produce outputs that are similar to those produced by humans.
In February, Microsoft and venture capital firms Thrive Capital, Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, and K2 Global finalized a deal to support OpenAI.
